The Battle of Marathon: 490 BC

Can't see video?

2010-2011 marks 2,500 years since the Battle of Marathon (Greece) in 490 BC.  This 'Historical Minute' video is a Real-Enactment™ of the famous battle between Athens and the Persian Empire, the famous 26 mile run by Pheidippides from Marathon to Athens, and the meaning of the Athenian victory...namely, giving Western Civilization time to flourish.

CelebrateGreece.com is proud to celebrate 2,500 years of ancient Greek marathon history and tradition.  CelebrateGreece.com's short video, 2,500 Years of Marathon Tradition, is an excerpt from our own documentary production, Greece: Spirits of the Ancients.   Both were produced by CelebrateGreece.com and filmed on location in Marathon, Greece and in Athens.
