Comedian Angelo Tsarouchas and CelebrateGreece.com's founder, James Stathis, and Modern Day Goddess® Cynthia Daddona recently met up in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Earlier in the week both Angelo and CelebrateGreece.com had documentaries showing back-to-back at the London Greek Film Festival. Ours was the world premiere of the romantic, culinary travel program called Crete - Under the Grecian Sun which opened the 2016 film festival and will become available to the public in October 2016, and Angelo was showing "Back to Sparta." (more below).
When we all met, CelebrateGreece.com informed Angelo that he had won the "Best Performer" Odysseus Award at the London Greek Film Festival. He didn't know and was excited and thankful for the great news.
Incidentally, CelebrateGreece.com represents the 2016 "Best Feature Film" Odysseus Award winner 300 Spartans - The Real Story, by Australian Director Stan Karpinski.
Angelo Tsarouchas' documentary, Back to Sparta, appeared immediately following Crete - Under the Grecian Sun at the London Greek Film Festival
"Back to Sparta" Synopsis:
At 35, within the span of one year, Angelo Tsarouchas had lost it all. His marriage. A successful business. And his father. But what he found was that when it comes to making your dream a reality, it's never too late to start again.
Against all odds, Angelo has found success and built a name for himself in one of the most difficult and strangest professions: Stand up comedy.
His career has taken him to stages around the world but ironically the one place he has never performed is the country he feels most connected to: Greece.
BACK TO SPARTA will introduce us to a unique spirit who at 48 years old will defy all odds once again as he organizes a comedy special in Greece in front of an audience who don't quite get stand up comedy yet.
While in Greece, Angelo is also determined to learn more about the country where his parents immigrated from as he uncovers the truth behind the debt crisis.
Is there comedy to be found in tragedy? Will Greeks get the joke? Do big guys make better lovers? All these questions and more will be answered when Angelo Tsarouchas goes Back to Sparta.
